Matanzas Bay Site Visit - 29th September 2017
As part of the Cuba Energy, Oil and Gas Conference 2017, all delegates are invited to participate in a unique site visit to Matanzas Bay, to witness Unión Cuba-Petróleo’s (CUPET) operations there and to gain first hand insight into the opportunities Cuba possesses.
The visit will be conducted by Ing. Julio Jiménez Vázquez, Drilling Manager, CUPET, MSc. María Yodalis Hernández Bernal, Head of Business Group Company of Drilling and Extraction of Petroleum of the Center, CUPET and experts from China’s state-owned drilling contractor, Great Wall. Both are jointly drilling 8,255 metres long, horizontal well, Varadero Oeste 1008 located near the city of Matanzas, around 100km from Havana. This is an area with lots of oil drilling and production activity, and the visit will demonstrate a successful example of collaboration between the two parties. Full specifications of the well can be found here.
CUPET will then host all participants for lunch at the famous ‘floating’ Kike-Kcho restaurant, in the Marina Gaviota specialising in locally caught gourmet seafood, owned by accomplished contemporary Cuban artist Kcho. Please note: for delegates with allergies or dietary restrictions, please contact Anabel Mederos Corratgé on email: firstname.lastname@example.org ahead of the event.
The site visit will commence at 8:00 am from The Melia Cohiba and participants should wear comfortable clothes.
